CBC team riders Chris Wieczorek and Cricket Butler will start the 17th edition of La Ruta de los Conquistadores in Costa Rica Wednesday alongside 225 competitors from all over the world. La Ruta is a grueling mountain bike stage race covering nearly 400k over four days. Race organizer Roman Urbina describes the race saying “It’s not about making it to the finish line, it’s about working with what you’ve got, giving it all your might and surviving the adversities that you might come upon along the way. Lending a hand to someone else, a sip of water, a spare tube, a word of encouragement, a friendly smile… while you compete against yourself… that’s the true spirit of La Ruta.” You can follow their progress on the blog of the CBC MTB Racing website where they will be posting updates.

Davidson is making good use of federal stimulus funds by expanding their greenway network. Great to see towns using money to improve the quality of life of their residents. More greenways = safer places to walk and ride = more conducive to bikes as transportation = connected community = healthier community. Way to go Davidson! Read about it here
