The CBC team had another solid showing at the winter short track series. In the singlespeed class Jim sprinted to a 2nd place finish and Noel came in 8th nursing a shoulder injury from the day before. In the sport class Rich held off a late charge of two Clif team riders to take the win! Perry had a first lap crash that put him at the back but he battled his way past 20+ riders to finish 8th. In the masters race the chris’ (rion and baker) finished 8th and 9th respectively. Once again all CBC riders in the top 10! Still waiting for team results to be posted.

A Long time Trek rider upgrades! When John came in looking for a new bike he had a good idea of what he wanted. He had spent the last two years dreaming about his next bike and for his 50th birthday he decided it was time to upgrade from his Trek 2200 to a new 5.5 Madone. A few upgrades later including Mavic Ksyrium SL wheels, and a complete bio mechanical fitting from Ben and he was on the road. The old Trek wont be retired but it will see a lot less miles this year. Congrats John and enjoy!
From the Clif Bar website:
On January 19, 2009, we announced a voluntary recall of 14 U.S and 4 Canadian products including CLIF Bar, CLIF Builder’s, CLIF MOJO, CLIF Kid Organic ZBaR and LUNA Bar, in the U.S. and Canada because the peanut butter in those products was sourced, for a limited period of time, from the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA). PCA is under investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for a recent Salmonella outbreak thought to be caused by tainted peanut butter. In light of this investigation, and with an abundance of caution, Clif Bar & Company has enacted a voluntary recall.

This weekend the CBC Mountain Bike Racing Team made its debut at the short track series and had a great weekend. In the single speed class Jim came in 2nd followed by Noel in 5th. Rich got 4th in the sport class and Chris R and Chris B got 4th and 5th in respectively in masters. Riding on the shop team Ryan and Isabelle Dyckes placed 2nd and 4th in junior girls! With every rider finishing in the top 5 in their class CBC earned enough points to be in 3rd place in the team competition after the first week of racing. Look for the crew out there next week looking to have another strong weekend and move up in the team standings.
Look out, Jim has a road bike! You know, the guy that has been ripping it up on the mountain bike scene around town. He’s probably passed you on the trail more than a few times. Anyone who knows Jim knows his affinity for breaking stuff. You name it, he has broke it. So I heard someone recommended that he get a road bike to take it the the next level and smooth out his riding. He came in looking for something red, (as in color) I need a red bike he said, with lots of red stuff on it, something carbon, really stiff and light. Specialized Tarmac Pro SL with new Dura Ace was right up his alley – nothing is lighter and stiffer, the thing is a rocket! So here he is, look out.
